Religion-based Censorship

The number of believers in the world is quite high. Based on global 2012 poll, 59% of the world's population is religious, and 36% are not religious, including 13% who are atheists, with population around 7.09 billion and 5 billion of it are religious ones by the United States Census Bureau (USCB). The five largest religion itself are Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Chinese folk (sorted randomly).

Talking about "religion" is actually a sensitive issue. Especially, when issue is perceived violating one or more religious values. Response doesn't only come from the believers where the issue takes place. But also to all believers around the world. Because, when media and press bring up the issue to public, then it becomes the problem of all involved believers. So, rather than making the issue bigger and more complicated, the object of the issue is usually compromised in order to prevent the unwanted things happen and keep the peaceThis is what we call with "Religion-based censorship".

Now, let's see one of the interesting religion-based censorships in U.S.
"Blessed are the Peacemakers", the painting of artist Ron DiCianni, depicts the modern-day policeman standing in front of  medieval knight with criss-cross sign right in his heart and a bigger one around his head. This painting raised complains from anti-christian because it includes the religious imagery.

I don't know whether this painting has been removed or not. But, from this we learn that we can't publish anything we like. We need to consider if it violates religious values or not. As religious values need to be be respected and preserved.
